Overview
The Department of Geography was established on June 1982. Presently, Geography is taught as an optional subject for the B. A. degree. The department is enriched with different types of teaching and learning equipment. The admissions and results of the department are better every year.
The department organizes various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as study tours, fieldworks, industrial visits, project work regularly to encourage innovative and analytical approaches among the students. Guest lectures of eminent personalities are organized on various topics. The faculty provides special guidance for various types of competitive exams.
The Department of Geography runs two certificate courses one is “Certificate Course in Land Surveying” and “Certificate Course in Travel & Tourism” for the students of any faculty. Apart from that, the department run a Geographical Forum, to use geographical knowledge for the conservation of local resources and sustainable development.
The department has entered MoUs with other HEIs for student enrichment. Currently, the department is well equipped laboratory with different types of teaching and learning sources, smart board, survey instruments, maps and computers to provide an effective learning environment to students. The department also encourages and facilitates scholars to follow their career in higher studies and academic integrity in the field of geography.
Goals of the Department
- To provide the facility for acquiring geographical knowledge to the Students of our college.
- To ingrain basic geographical concepts among students.
- Try to elevate geographic discipline.
